Dr. Gasso specializes in observation studies of aerosols using a combination of satellite detectors. His research interests include the study of dust impacts on marine biology and dust long range transport at high latitudes. He has been involved in numerous projects studying dust activity in Patagonia and published the first dedicated satellite and model studies of dust activity in Patagonia. In 2007 he chaired the Multidisciplinary workshop on Southern South American Dust, held in Puerto Madryn, Argentina (funded by the National Science Foundation). Since 2010 he has been a coinvestigator in a NASA-IDS funded project to characterize dust transport from Alaskan glaciers.
